Advice to Designers

Found this on the School of Visual Design, Interactive Design program‘s blog via Twitter.
It’s a post with design advice from seasoned professionals to beginners just entering the field

Home Studios Just Got Upgraded, Zoom R16

I just found a new item on one of my frequently visited A/V equipment websites; The Zoom R16.

The R16 is a 16 track mixer and 8 track (simultaneous) recording device which can capture audio in the field, or interface with your computer as a mixing controller.

I’m a big fan of the Zoom H4 for field recording. It’s compact size, intuitive interface and superior sound quality make it a go-to for me, but at $399 (only 50 bucks more than the H4), I’m sure I could get friendly with the R16 as well :)

New Business Cards

So finally, I have designed and printed new business cards. For the past few months I have been using my Streetfrog Productions business cards and writing www.seansnyderink.com on the back. I was justifying it as something cool about the handwritten bit on the back, but the reality is I couldn’t settle on a new design.

Here it is in PDF format, so you can download it and print up your very own, otherwise I’m sure I will give you one the next time I see you because I’m excited about them.

Skaffa's 8bit Website

This guy is ridiculous, this guy is Teo Skaffa.

I just saw his website and was totally impressed. It has a really fun aesthetic a la Mario Bros

Then I saw some of his art and was blown away.

Check him out on Flickr too…Ridiculous

Duluth Trading Pants vs. Giant Angry Beaver

So I saw this flash ad for Duluth Traiding Company‘s Fire Hose Work Pants yesterday and actually really enjoyed it for it’s simplicity and subtle animation. It was engaging enough to draw me in, but not so extremely flashy that I’d feel marketed to.

Plus, I get the impression these pants are really good and wouldn’t mind a pair myself (hmmmm… maybe I was marketed too., it’s funny how non-obtrusive tactics can pay off).
