I just found a new item on one of my frequently visited A/V equipment websites; The Zoom R16.
The R16 is a 16 track mixer and 8 track (simultaneous) recording device which can capture audio in the field, or interface with your computer as a mixing controller.
I’m a big fan of the Zoom H4 for field recording. It’s compact size, intuitive interface and superior sound quality make it a go-to for me, but at $399 (only 50 bucks more than the H4), I’m sure I could get friendly with the R16 as well
