Advice to Designers
Found this on the School of Visual Design, Interactive Design program‘s blog via Twitter.
It’s a post with design advice from seasoned professionals to beginners just entering the field

Home Studios Just Got Upgraded, Zoom R16
I just found a new item on one of my frequently visited A/V equipment websites; The Zoom R16.
The R16 is a 16 track mixer and 8 track (simultaneous) recording device which can capture audio in the field, or interface with your computer as a mixing controller.
I’m a big fan of the Zoom H4 for field recording. It’s compact size, intuitive interface and superior sound quality make it a go-to for me, but at $399 (only 50 bucks more than the H4), I’m sure I could get friendly with the R16 as well
New Business Cards
So finally, I have designed and printed new business cards. For the past few months I have been using my Streetfrog Productions business cards and writing www.seansnyderink.com on the back. I was justifying it as something cool about the handwritten bit on the back, but the reality is I couldn’t settle on a new design.
Here it is in PDF format, so you can download it and print up your very own, otherwise I’m sure I will give you one the next time I see you because I’m excited about them.
Skaffa's 8bit Website
This guy is ridiculous, this guy is Teo Skaffa.

I just saw his website and was totally impressed. It has a really fun aesthetic a la Mario Bros
Then I saw some of his art and was blown away.
Check him out on Flickr too…Ridiculous

Duluth Trading Pants vs. Giant Angry Beaver
So I saw this flash ad for Duluth Traiding Company‘s Fire Hose Work Pants yesterday and actually really enjoyed it for it’s simplicity and subtle animation. It was engaging enough to draw me in, but not so extremely flashy that I’d feel marketed to.
Plus, I get the impression these pants are really good and wouldn’t mind a pair myself (hmmmm… maybe I was marketed too., it’s funny how non-obtrusive tactics can pay off).
Japanese Spiderman and New Media for Comics
I don’t know how Voltron makes a cameo, but maybe that’s why it’s Japanese Spiderman
For the record, I was curious of what the new media efforts were for popular comic book publishers so I checked out both Marvel and DC‘s sites. I have to say it’s a good start, but I’m surprised there isn’t more considering the characters and stories each company has.
I did see something at DC’s site that I thought was cool; a web trailer for a printed comic (I think the sound design was particularly good, along with the fact that it had Zod highlighted as the possible bad guy).
Shameless Self Promotion – Generation 3K Art Show
I’m at it again.
I’m participating in another art show next Sunday at the Amazing Things Art Center in Framingham (the largest town in America).
The show runs through the summer, but the kick of opening is this Sunday, June 14th from 1-3PM; refreshments will be served
I will not only be displaying art, but will have pieces for sale, a novelty to my creative development.
So if you’re free, come on by and check out some great art from a new generation of artists.

Simon Høgsberg, 100 meters of existence
Very beautiful photograph by Simon Høgsberg, which really utilizes the new medium aspect of the internet and our contemporary viewing portals.
I would however love to see this stretched out in a gallery.
One T, Twiter Parking Space
First off, no I did not misspell Twitter in the title.
What I’m referring to is twiter.com, which I coincidentally did find because I misspelled Twitter (two t) in the address.
Twiter.com (one t) is what I like to call a Parking Space (I can’t imagine I’m the first person to use this term, but this is what I call it): a generic website used to hold a space where someone might like to park their website, or in this case, the claimed URL of a site spelled one letter off.
I noticed a funny thing when I visited the one t site; I was legitimately confused into thinking I was where I should be. I imagine this was for three reasons,
- I was expecting to go to Twitter
- I am used to twitter failing and reverting back to some less styled form of HTML and broken CSS
- The blatant use of an existing Twitter illustration in the middle of the page.
This raises an issue…
